Nancy - Proposal for iPRES

  • 1 day workshop (8 hours)
  • Same format as London
  • Better chance of getting proposal approved if we don't do the exact same thing as last year - show that we have moved on
  • Make 1.x updates very short (or not at all?)
  • Expressions of data models as they have been implemented by vendors (but different vendors than last year)
  • Possible vendors - BNF, Ex Libris - could include Ramlet
  1. Canonical 1.x
  2. 1.x data models
  3. 2.0 data model
  4. Presentations on use cases

Would guidelines for PREMIS in METS fit in? Karen - PREMIS in METS is being updated PREMIS Implementation Fair - METS workshop should be in the beginning because PREMIS is at the end - METS Board members could go to both. Helen Tibbo is the organizer - a personal note would be good to ask that if both workshops are accepted that they don't overlap. Nancy will put in the proposal and Betsy will follow-up with Helen.

2.0 - Tom could do presentation like last year, but the meat should be 2.0 use cases from the working group.

Need bios for organizers - Tom, Bertrand, Andreas, Nancy

Board meeting at iPRES

  • Betsy will talk with Helen Tibbo about this.
  • Joint meeting with ALTO Board? 2 separate meetings and then potential overlap meeting. There is an ALTO Board meeting in early June and Yukka will keep us updated.

Portland Common Data Model - Fedora 4 - Complex Objects

  • Came out of Code4Lib
  • We should recruit someone (Esma Cowles?) to talk about it
  • It is complementary to METS
  • We don't want to be seen as myopic
  • Brian talked with Patrick a little bit

Linked Data Model - our 2.0 linked data model would hopefully be complementary

Exchange Format - ICE - Karin doesn't have access to the documents but she will see what she can find and send it to the group.

2.0 Working Group

  • Taking Tom's presentation about 2.0 modeling and applying it to specific cases at institutions
  • Where are the issues.
  • After issues are identified, taking a top-down approach.
  • Andreas uploaded his approach to Github.
  • Linked Data aspect is important
  • Want to get 1 or 2 other organizations to participate
  • working Group is use case driven - if there are specific issues that should be considered then let the group know
  • They will meet again in 3 weeks

2 Board members are stepping down

  • Jean-Phillip - thinks Bertrand should take his place - Board members were fine with this
  • Markus - will ask him is there is someone else from the British Library that he can recommend, and if not will put out a general call

METS 1.0 change request

  • Tom is inclined to approve BNF request - supporting 3D use case would be useful and interesting; they would be like specialized
s; add ANY attribute as well; Tom will push out to Github
