DCS alarm on shifter console

Fabio Ferrarotto edited this page Nov 3, 2018 · 13 revisions

Since 3/11/2018 the DCS gives on the shifter's console (padmecr3) alarm windows concerning all channels with ECAL,SAC HV and SIPM HV,temp and error status.

When the alarm window with red alerts appears on the shifter's terminal (padmecr3) to make it disappear just click on the OK button, but before please annotate which alarm is that. If you have closed the window anyhow, do not panic : anyhow, if the alarm reason has not been cured, the alarm will reappear in ~ 30 secs.

However the shifter should react quickly to these messages :

  1. in case it's an ECAL or SAC HV alarm , please refer to the "Check ECAL/SAC HV" instructions and please pull back the standard voltage on the channel giving an alarm. The slot and channel giving problem is listed in the alarm box
  2. in case it's a SIPM alarm, please refer to the "Setup vetos" instructions and if necessary put back on ALL sipms (by default the shifter can't pull on a single channel - only for experts). This should be enough to cure the problem if it is a HV problem.

If instead :

  • it's a temperature problem first wait some minutes (maybe try to put off sipm channels - see the "Setup vetos" instructions) - wait until the monitor shows the temp has gone down significantly and then try to raise back all channels
  • if it's an error status try to switch off and back again the SIPMs. If the error persists, expert intervention is needed.

If the alarm shows again quite often, please call experts:

  • ECAL/SAC refer to Clara Taruggi or Mauro Raggi
  • SIPM refer to Venelin Kozuharov or Fabio Ferrarotto
