  3. WMO Secretariat updates (Anna)
    • Circular letter for nominations of new team members open until 9 Jan 2023
      • There were several nominations. Considerations will be made after closing.
    • New WMO Community page for IWXXM: https://github.com/wmo-im/iwxxm/issues/268
      • Could be the place to hold official indication on the appropriate IWXXM version to be used with each Amendment where ICAO documents can point to.
      • Could also include links to relevant ICAO documents
    • Project boards: https://github.com/wmo-im/iwxxm/projects?type=classic
      • Recapped the historical reason for having separate repositories for model and schemas. While there are no particular needs to separate right now due to the close relationship between logical and physical models, in long term there is still a wish to generate multiple physical models (e.g. XML and JSON schemas) using a single UML model. It is suggested to keep existing arrangement.

  4. Work plan for 2022 to 2024 (Choy)
    • Submission for FT2023-1 (Early Jan 2023)
    • Public consultation on changes to IWXXM involved in Amendment 81 (from May to September to commence during State consultation of proposed changes in Amendment 81 between Jan and Jun 2023 and depending on status of FT2023-1)
    • Submission for FT2024-1 on changes to IWXXM involved in Amendment 81 (early Jan 2024) in case approval to Amendment 81 is received, or otherwise we will have to wait until FT2024-2 (early July 2024)
  5. Discussion and approval to the submission for FT-2023-1. See PRs for schemas and model for details
    • Bugs and improvements to SIGMET (#293).
      • Choy invited Jan to test whether their validator fires with the sample in #293.
      • Jan to raise if there is any further improvements to add. Preliminary discussion suggested that the cases involved may only need a change of documentation but not the schema/schematron to limit "out-of-expectation" representations.
    • The missing representation for icing phenomenon in the WAFS SIGWX F/C (#294)
      • Choy to share a full set of WAFS SIGWX F/C samples with team members.
    • Updates to XML examples which PRs have already merged into master
      • Mark to register all PRs involved in one issue for tracking.
      • Anna to look into the wordings in pull_request_template.md to let one know he/she has to raise an issue to facilitate tracking before raising a PR
    • With regard to the PRs raised by Choy
      • Choy to see if some of the less involving folders (e.g. html) could be masked in a PR to improve readability
  6. Versioning of FT2023-1 release (Anna)
    • IWXXM: 2023-1 (Namespace: http://icao.int/iwxxm/2023-1)
    • WAFS SIGWX F/C: 1.1.0
    • SIGMET: 4.0.1
    • Add versioning for iwxxm.sch? Yes and no, but this also relates to the versioning of the contents (i.e. code lists) contained in RDF files referenced by iwxxm.sch. Suggest to raise an issue to track the review of the "current time" approach for reporting and encoding/decoding which is awful for historic messages and States who have "filed a difference" to use previous version of IWXXM.
    • Add examples? - No, examples are included in directory with new releases
  7. Next meeting(s)
    • Start reviewing changes to IWXXM involved in Amendment 81 in January 2023.
    • Will have a separate on-boarding meeting when new members are selected.
    • Choy facilitates the Secretariat to consider holding a face-to-face meeting in 2023 especially on the need to prepare ourselves to support development of the future Aerodrome Observations based on WxObject.

    • Status of approval of Amendment 81
    • Promulgation of news on IWXXM to ICAO stakeholders especially those of the PIRGs
    • Proposed discontinuation on the use of COLLECT construct to aggregate METAR and TAF reports (but requires extension to the WMO Abbreviated Header to accommodate the exchange of individual reports over AFS)
    • Management of WMO Abbreviated Headers required for the exchange of messages over AFS (after the the Manual on GTS (WMO-No. 386) is frozen in 2024)
    • WIS2/SWIM interoperability study
  2. Amendment 81 issues
    • Discussion on the work involved in the preparation for public consultation
      • Development of IWXXM reports for VONA and QVA
      • Public consultation period
