How to report issues or suggest features

Reporting issues or suggesting new features is the key to making Square One better. The strategy for doing this is listed below, please follow these guidelines.

Reporting an issue

To report and issue, such as a bug or functionality that doesn't work as intended, these are the steps you should take to report and discuss the issue.

  1. First post about it on the mailing list.
  2. Include EXACT steps on how you made the issue occur, if you are unsure you can still mention it but please try to figure out the steps to duplicate the issue first. This is vital to making it possible for others to confirm your report. Do not assume anything, and be very clear about your instructions so anybody can understand.
  3. Open a new issue on the Issue Tracker.
  4. In the issue mention the steps that others can take to see the same issue.
  5. Give the issue several tags. Set 'Status' to 'New' and set 'Type' to the appropriate type.
  6. The Coder and Maintainers will take the issue and provide a patch based on the severity of the issue.

Suggest a feature

To suggest a new feature, you will first need to discuss it on the mailing list. The types of features that Square One will accept are limited to those which match the goals of Square One. Features that are better suited for Joomla should be submitted directly to the Joomla CMS. Features should be compatible with Joomla, it is unlikely that anything that breaks compatibility will be accepted.

  1. First post about it on the mailing list.
  2. Discuss the idea with others, and improve the idea.
  3. When the idea is ready, open a new issue on the Issue Tracker.
  4. Give the issue several tags. Set 'Status' to 'New' and set 'Type' to 'Feature'.
  5. The Coders and Maintainers will take the issue and provide a patch based on the importance of the feature.
