Image File Targets

coblej edited this page Feb 14, 2013 · 2 revisions

Certain image collections digitized by DPC contain, in addition to the content image files, a set of "target" image files. These target files represent TargetData as defined in NISO Z39.87; i.e., a "physical benchmark" for certain information about the content file at the time of capture.

Given current DPC practice, an image content file has 0 or 1 target files. A target file is the target for 1 or more than 1 content files. Each target file is associated with a single collection and a collection may have 0, 1, or more than 1 target files.

We add target files to the repository using the "content" datastream of an Active-Fedora "Target" model. We assert the "hasTarget" relationship between a Collection and/or Component object and the corresponding Target object.
