customizing jobs

Introduction

There are various ways you can customize your jobs. Some are for your benefit. Some are for the benefit of the community of cluster users. SLURM lets you name your jobs which makes tracking them in the queue easier. It also eases controlling them (suspending, cancelling, etc.). You can also give your output files custom names that help you debug and track your jobs. Asking for enough memory/cpu/time insures that your jobs will run optimally. Asking for too much of these increases the amount of time your jobs will wait in the queue, and also allocates resources you don't need from other users who do need them.
