All the OneBusAway apps now automatically work in all OneBusAway "regions", including Tampa.
The below instructions are kept for future reference, if we need to change the server that the iPhone app points to in future testing of new OneBusAway functionality.
You can follow these steps to get the existing OneBusAway iPhone app on the AppStore to work with an alternate OneBusAway server:
- Download the current OneBusAway app from the Apple App Store
- Start the app, hit the More key, tap on Settings, and then OneBusAway API Server
- More->Settings->OneBusAway API Server
- In the pop up, delete the current text, and enter the new server URL (e.g.,
api.tampa.onebusaway.org/api
)
- See the screenshot to the right for how this looks
- Be careful to type the text EXACTLY as it appears (beware of auto-correct!!)
- Its case-sensitive! Make sure you enter it in all lower-case!
- Tap More in the upper left corner to return to the main map screen in OneBusAway app
- Do NOT hit the Done button. This may cause the application to crash. If this happens, start again at Step 2.
- It could take up to 1 minute for the application to begin pulling information about Tampa.
This should point the app at the alternate server. If you tap on the "My Location" icon, you should see buses on the map in Tampa, and be able to see estimated arrival times when tapping on each bus. If you don't see any bus icons or get an error message, return to Step 2 and confirm that the correct text was entered in Step 3.
