Hi I'm Al!
I've spend a number of decades working on software for a lot of companies (big and small) as well as running my own companies involved in software development. I'm currently living in the UK and solving problems in ways that hopefully make things easier for others.
My current project is something which I created and formed a company around over a decade ago but it has seen very little love since I wound that company up and joined Facebook in 2015. I'd like to get back to spending some more time on it, and, in the process of updating it, fix some of the software development pain points in other peoples code that I come across.
I've spent a number of years also working on Android projects and speaking at conferences because I found Androids open ecosystem engaging and the people involved friendly, knowledgeable, and generally great people to be around. The original use of Java made Androids learning curve shallow for me, but I know I need to invest in learning Kotlin and more modern Android practices.
Your sponsorship will help me understand whether what I'm working on is useful, or whether it's something that I should set aside and look for more challenging problems which help more people.
Thanks for reading!
