Currently if your lab does not use a university HPC then it is actually going to be quite difficult to transfer data between laptop and acquisition machines. What will your 'central storage' even be? Maybe you can somehow setup SSH to your laptop but it's not going to be robust. A simple solution is to leverage RClone's support of Amazon AWS and Google Drive, everyone has access to these so can serve as 'central' in (almost all?) cases researchers do not have access to some kind of central lab storage.
