A few contactless USB CCID smart card readers have been tested and different features are available:

PC/SC v2.01 readers with given tag technology support should work
- Works with with operating system CCID driver (no driver installation needed)
- Feitian reader does not power down the chip after inactivity. Leaving a card on the reader for extended time can cause a heated up chip, which may result in unwanted consequences.
- Type 2 tags are the likes of NXP NTAG
- Type 4 tags are the likes of Fidesmo Links
