FSFW Sticks 3057 (Xfce Desktop, Debian 12, amd64)
This «Freie Software Freies Wissen» Live Stick release is based on Debian 12 „bookworm“ (+ backports and 3rd-party repositories) and contains a variety of free open source software (and a few non-free tools). The images are meant to be copied onto USB pen drives with at least 32 GB of storage.
They contain a special persistence partition layout and need to be written as is to the flash drive. We recommend the software Etcher if you happen to use 🪟 windows or 🍎 apple, block map tool if you are running linux and prefer a command-line alternative. With the latter, you could also directly write to an USB drive from the internet by carefully executing bmaptool copy [Image URL] [Block device]
as root.
The sticks currently boot in German by default. If you press e
in the boot menu to edit and remove the locales=de_DE.UTF-8
parameter, it will boot in English. You can also change the keyboard-layouts=de
parameter to set a different keyboard layout. We'll be adding a way to choose the language on boot-up more easily in the coming weeks.

OSEG Makerstick image (ISO)
The makerstick contains even more tools specifically aimed at makers (for 3D printing, KiCAD, system monitoring etc.) than the uni-stick edition. It also comes with a dark theme and some special desktop wallpapers to honour our partnership with the Open Source Ecology Germany e.V..

(!) Because of a script bork, this is only an ISO file. To create a fully functional usb drive you have to clone this repo, put the file into the artifacts
folder and start scripts/stick-install
to install it to a pen-drive.
The next build will be a complete one again as before.
