Unofficial clients' use of signal servers

In the past the Signal foundation has taken steps to prevent third-party clients from communicating through their servers.

However, according to one comment:

I have communicated with the Signal developers a bit and they were supportive of the idea of a native Linux client.

Although we have yet to hear any feedback, we tend to believe that they tolerate our presence.
