The current implementation of the GridCoverage2D serializer calls the
getData
method of the rendered image to obtain serializable raster data. When the rendered image object is aBufferedImage
, it will create a hard copy of the underlying raster, which is very time-consuming. This happens when serializing rasters created byRS_MakeEmptyRaster
orRS_AddBandFromArray
.This patch adds a fast path for GridCoverage2D objects backed by a
BufferedImage
. We callgetRaster
to obtain the serializable raster. This won't make a new copy of the raster data.How was this patch tested?
Passes existing tests.
