Changing passwords
PasswordChangeAssistant integrates into the edit entry form and additionally provides a standalone form that can be accessed by the entry's context menu. It does not automatically fill in and submit all the various 'change password' forms.
Usage instructions are slightly different depending on whether you are working inside the Edit entry form or whether you're using the standalone form.
Step | Entry form | Standalone form |
---|---|---|
Generate new password | Manual step | Automated step, can be overwritten manually PasswordChangeAssistant proposes a new password based on the current password/last used password profile |
Auto-Type / Copy old password | Context menu of PCA button1 | Buttons underneath the password box2 |
Auto-Type / Copy new password | Context menu of PCA button1 | Buttons underneath the password box2 |
Auto-Type password change sequence | N/A | Possible. If the default sequences don't match, you can define additional ones2 |
You can repeat these steps as often as required and can save your changes once everything is done.
There is no risk anymore to save a new password that might not be accepted by the target site or to 'pollute' the entry's history.
As an additional shortcut, you can define a 2nd URL to directly access the 'Change password' page.
As an example, you can set the entry's URL to https://github.com
whereas this URL can be set to https://github.com/settings/security
