 In some areas, the native import will definitely be better, for instance when it comes to performance. However, it is by nature a very general approach and so are many of the design decisions behind it.
 
 The way via a script, on the other hand, offers the possibility to configure the import individually, to treat the content differently than InDesign does or even to omit parts of it completely that might cause problems.
