This is a continuation of: busybox: add clearhistory command to securely wipe the ash command history from memory #1300. Github automatically closed the pull request because I deleted that branch.
I corrected the changes recommended by @themiron, and put it on a clean branch. The only difference is that I kept the secure string wipe function and remove the .ash_history file.
So,
history -c
works perfectly now. I'm unfamiliar with hush; not sure how to test it.
