Windows Audio Issues
At this time, OpenShot can only handle one audio output device per session on Windows (see https://github.com/OpenShot/openshot-qt/issues/4303). Wrong settings may introduce several sound problems, which can include unexpected elimination of sound during playback in the interface or during encoding, or even mute sound in third-party programs while OpenShot is running.
Answers and images were taken from discussion in https://github.com/OpenShot/openshot-qt/issues/3116. If a solution worked, please go there and tell us which solution and for which hardware.
- Ensure that the Playback Audio Device is set correctly for your sound interface or output (e.g., speakers vs. headphones, line out vs. USB vs. Bluetooth, etc.).
-
Perhaps try a different audio device (e.g., USB, audio over HDMI from video card, etc.), to rule out other issues with clipping audio. As it is a setting, you will need to restart OpenShot.
-
Also check that the Default Audio Sample Rate and Default Audio Channels are set to match your hardware. Go to 'Sound' > 'Playback' tab > [the device name] > 'Properties' > 'Advanced', and under 'Default Format', click 'Test' to preview the audio device.
-
Disable automatic sound suppression for voice calls during microphone activity. Go to 'Sound' > 'Communications' tab, and under 'When Windows detects communications activity...', choose 'Do nothing'.
-
If supported by your sound card, try disabling 'Audio Enhancements' under the 'Advanced' settings tab of your audio device.
-
For headphones, first plug in the headphones and then start OpenShot afterwards.
