To install:
- Ensure that your graphics drivers are the very latest, see https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/wiki/Requirements for instructions.
- Download the latest release, there should be a file that looks like
Proton-X.XX-GE-X.tar.gz
. - Open
~/.steam/root/
- Create the
compatibilitytools.d
folder - Extract archive to
~/.steam/root/compatibilitytools.d/
. - Close and re-open steam
- From the Steam Client go to Steam > Settings > Steam Play, check both "Enable Steam Play for supported titles" and "Enable Steam Play for all other titles". Choose Proton-3.7.8 or Higher from the drop down menu.
- Install the game of your choice.
- Right click the game in your Steam Library and click Properties
- At the bottom of the "GENERAL" tab, Check "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool".
- Then select
Proton-X.XX-GE-X
from the drop down and click close.

Set vsync on/off in game, not auto. The game tends to have issues and/or may crash if set on auto.

Turn off bulk downloads in the launcher otherwise large updates will fail. This will remove the progress bar and the launcher will simply say "Checking for Content" until it completes.
