This project exists of 3 modules:
- AdServerCore: the core library that handles the AdServer connections with the splicer. This code is included in the AdServerSimulator. The python wrappers uses this core as a shared library
- AdServerSimulator: a GUI frontend to the AdServerCore library
- pythonWrapper: this contains code to use the AdServerCore library inside Python

The 3 projects need Qt. If there is no Qt development present, you can either:
- Install the SDK and build with the QtCreator (recommended on Windows)
- Build the library locally and then build the projects (recommended on Linux)

To build the libraries on linux: if the executable should be run on all sabekorlnx-es, it is best to build on sabekorlnx05 or 06, since the binary can then run on all sabekorlnxes
Download a Qt library (I used version 4.6.2: http://get.qt.nokia.com/qt/source/qt-everywhere-opensource-src-4.6.2.tar.gz)
- Extract it somewhere
- build it:
  ./configure -no-gtkstyle -no-glib -release -opensource -prefix /home/steelj99/Qt-4.6.2
  gmake
  gmake install

Now add /home/steelj99/Qt-4.6.2/bin to the PATH

Build the AdServerSimulator:

  cd AdServerSimulator
  qmake
  make
 
Distrubute the AdServerSimulator:
  copy AdServerSimulator binary to a directory
  create a subdirectory 'lib'
  copy into this 'lib' directory following files from /home/steelj99/Qt-4.6.2/lib:
    libQtCore.so.4
    libQtGui.so.4
    libQtNetwork.so.4


Build the pythonWrappers:

optionally build python 2.7:

get python from http://python.org/ftp/python/2.7/Python-2.7.tgz
extract and build:
  ./configure --prefix /home/steelj99/myroot
  make
  make install

Add /home/steelj99/myroot/bin to the PATH

optionally build SIP:
---------------------
get SIP form http://www.riverbankcomputing.co.uk/static/Downloads/sip4/sip-4.10.5.tar.gz
extract and build:
  python configure.py -b /home/steelj99/myroot/bin -d /home/steelj99/myroot/lib/python2.7/site-packages -e /home/steelj99/myroot/include/python2.7 -v /home/steelj99/myroot/share/sip
  make
  make install

optionally build PyQt:

get PyQt from http://www.riverbankcomputing.co.uk/static/Downloads/PyQt4/PyQt-x11-gpl-4.7.4.tar.gz
extract and build: 
  python configure.py -q /home/steelj99/Qt-4.6.2/bin/qmake
  make
  make install

Build the AdServerCore library:

  cd AdServerCore
  qmake
  make

Build the AdServer library for Python:

  cd pythonWrapper
  python configure.py
  make

to distribute the AdServerLibrary for Python:
  cp ../AdServerCore/libAdServerCore.so.1 .
  cp /home/steelj99/Qt-4.6.2/lib/libQtCore.so.4 .
  cp /home/steelj99/Qt-4.6.2/lib/libQtNetwork.so.4 .

make sure that the correct libraries are used by typing:
  ldd AdServerCore.so
  ldd libAdServerCore.so.1
only local Qt libs should be used
