class C:
    import q
    @q
    def __call__(self, arg=1):
        return arg

C()(1)

This traces

 0.0s C: <function C.__call__>

Without giving a default value of 1 to arg, the behavior is correct:

 0.0s __call__(<__main__.C object>, 1)
 0.0s -> 1
