Xonotic does not support custom models on monsters, or custom monsters at all, so we have a couple of options:
Implement monsters in a custom mod, such as the SMB modpack
Use the vanilla Xonotic monsters, modifying them to support 2D mode
Implement the monsters in Xonotic directly, as hidden monsters with GPL-friendly models
The first two options are doable in the short term, however given the number of enemies in the original Super Mario Bros. it may feel lackluster to include only the handful of monsters available in Xonotic.
