Dolmexica Infinite (M.U.G.E.N Interpreter) Port playable on the Ps Vita [$100] #92
Comments
Considering this is also a dreamcast homebrew, it could potentially run on flycast |
hmm... although the dreamcast version of dolmexica infinite has a few limitations (no after images etc.), It would still be the best way to play mugen on the psvita. Alright yea, if it emulates well with little to no audio crackling issues, I'll consider this bounty done ! 💯 |
Nevermind, the dreamcast version of dolmexica infinite does not fully support sound, apparently it takes time to load for each player sound effect. yea i'll just wait till someone ports the windows version of dolmexica infinite to the vita (which already supports sound) |
MUGEN games for PSVITA with more creation resources and good performance would be great. |
You can add more money to the bounty here for incentivizing Ps Vita homebrewers to make this project : (the bounty as of now is $20, but if more people contribute towards the bounty, the more likely this project will get undertaken) |
Dolmexica Infinite is an open-source M.U.G.E.N interpreter for Dreamcast/Web/Windows made by CaptainDreamcast
Source : https://github.com/CaptainDreamcast/DolmexicaInfinite
This library is also needed for porting : https://github.com/CaptainDreamcast/prism
The numerous Mugen ports for the PSP are all extremely slow and dont work well, so having an actual proper way to play mugen games on the go (like castlevania fighters etc.) would be sweet.
To Clarify, Dolmexica Infinite isn't just a basic one to one mugen port written in C++
It's essentially a C++ Mugen interpreter with lots of advanced features and modes that is extremely beneficial for making a fighting game.
Advanced features for example includes (advanced story mode, saving story mode, better optimizations and a mode for osu etc.)
Obviously, there are three seperate builds of this project (Dreamcast/Web/Windows)
For porting, the Windows version specifically is best suited for it as it's built with C++ and uses SDL.
Full Technical Documentation of the project, (with it's features and differences with the OG mugen) is provided here: https://captaindreamcast.github.io/DolmexicaInfinite/dolmexica.html
BountySource: https://app.bountysource.com/issues/109399027-dolmexica-infinite-m-u-g-e-n-interpreter-port-for-ps-vita
I'm starting off with $15, but if anyone would like to contribute more for basically making Mugen playable on the PS vita, Be my humble guest :)
Details and Screenshots :
Shown here, is the main barebone Dolmexica Infinite M.U.G.E.N game, as you can see it is basically the same as the OG mugen engine (with kfm and the intro story etc.)
However, even with the original customization of M.U.G.E.N chars and the engine, it is still somewhat limited with fighting-game customizations
Therefore, Dolmexica Infinite has it's own story mode with it's own state machine. It enables players to create scenarios with advanced storyboards and fights to create their own story to go along with the M.U.G.E.N characters
Here is a really great example done by the creator of what is capable with this iterative : https://captaindreamcast.itch.io/dream-fight-19-ad
More Customizable story mode with custom text boxes and text animations as well as different dialog options
Customizable fighting interface
A more interactive level select screen
I dont even know what this is, but it sure shows the various game mechanics in the engine
It says there is an Osu mode, but I wasn't sure how to get it working.
Yea, so this is a no-brainer for making this playable for the Ps vita, considering how well fighting games already work for the system.
There is a $100 open bounty on this issue. Add to the bounty at Bountysource.
