Description

I noticed there are quite a few open issues that could benefit from better tagging and categorization, which would likely help maintainers and contributors alike.

I would like to see

  • Clear contribution guidelines (e.g., CONTRIBUTING.md) that outline the process for submitting pull requests, coding standards, etc.
  • A system for tagging and categorizing issues (e.g., using labels like bug, enhancement, help wanted) to help contributors easily find issues they can work on.
  • More templates beyond bug reports and feature requests, perhaps for documentation improvements or general questions, to better structure the contributions.

Describe alternatives you've considered

Adding a 'Feature: ' / 'Bug: ' precursor to titles convention in the existing templates

Additional context

I'm new to contributing and am more than happy to help out in writing/improving contribution documentation, but might need some direction. I also don't think I can add labels, probably something a project admin can do.
Having these improvements would likely make it easier for contributors to jump in and help, which could increase the pace of development and overall project health.
