HFS doesn't mount from GPT #14
Comments
Are there any existing GPT disk images that use HFS? Are you trying to make new ones? Is there any reason to believe that they can work together? |
I don't remember what disk this came from so I created a new one using Mac OS X 10.5.8 Leopard: I doubly compressed the attached disk image. I don't know why a GPT disk would contain an HFS partition but it could happen and does seem to work. Maybe a cloned partition from an APM disk for archival purposes? I suppose it wouldn't be bootable since Mac OS X requires HFS+ or later. Only late 2005 model PowerPC Macs can boot from GPT. Some of the G4 models might boot a hacked version of OS 9 but I don't know if that can happen from a GPT disk. |
Thanks, I've downloaded the image and can try it some time in the future. But this is probably a somewhat uncommon use case, I'm going to have to focus on all the other issues first when I get to them. |
HFS works from APM formatted disks but not GPT.
