Keyboard layout problem #42

I'm trying to connect to a Mac with Vine Server running. The Mac uses FR keyboard layout.
I connect to this Mac from a FreeBSD workstation (running Xorg), the keyboard layout is FR too. I tried different VNC clients, but I've never got FR keyboard inside the connection, it switches to EN-US one. I've found a workaround though - changing the layout on server side to EN-US gives me the correct FR layout inside my VNC session. I tried to change the option "Keyboard Layout" in Vine Server but it does not change anything.
Is there any way to force Vine Server (or OSXvnc server) to use EN-US keyboard in VNC session? Or maybe there is another solution?

The same problem connecting from Mac OS X (build-in VNC client) to another Mac OS X, both with FR keyboard layout.

I've got the same issue with catalina. When I switch to EN-US keyboard, letters are recognize but not special character nor number.

Yes, switching to EN-US helps. There is an (experimental?) option keyboardLoading that helps too, but with this option activated in some clients some buttons don't work (ex: @ and # in 'native' Screen Share app).

Thank you for your reply,
using command line arguments -keyboardLoading Yes worked quite well for me. The only issue remaining is I get a @ when typing a #

Interesting! It's different from my symptoms! What is your VNC client? What is your client's OS?

I'm using ultravnc viewer client on a windows 10. Server side I'm using Vine server 5.2.1 on a mac os catalina.
in Keyboard Layout option I choose Current Keyboard and in keyboard event I choose User Session Events Source.
Now when I choose FR keyboard on the remote host it works fine (except #) .

  • Caps lock doesn't seems to work either

Hope this can help.
