Dear Sjackwu

I tried to install your DualFinder scripts and Alfred Workflow on my Macbook Pro 15’ running Mac Os Big Sur 11.1

Since then, clicking on « tab » button switch between two tabs on Finder. But it’s really inconvenient because of a conflict with the shortcut « alt+tab » for switching between apps.

I would like to remove the « tab » shortcut for switching between two tabs on Finder. Could you please tell me how I should proceed ?

Best regards,
Joseph

Joseph,

If you use the Alfred version of DualFinder, you should've gone through the process of setting up each and every shortcuts by yourself, since Alfred doesn't allow scripts to set up the hotkeys. Therefore, the following steps should be easy to you:

  1. open Alfred
  2. open the Alfred preference window (cmd-,)
  3. click on the Workflow icon on the top
  4. find DualFinder on the left
  5. look for the 3rd item on the right, and it should be labeled "Ctrl-tab: Jump between the 2 Finder windows.
Alfred can not accept "tab" key as keyboard shortcut, therefore Ctrl-tab."
  6. modify/delete the hotkey

p.s. Thank you for asking the question! I didn't expect others would use it. :)

Dear Sjackwu,

You're welcome ! Thank you very much for your kind response.
I didn't use the Alfred version of DualFinder. But I imported DualFinder.alfredworkflow and followed the steps you mentioned.

Setting, modifying or deleting the shortcut Ctrl-tab for "Jump between the 2 Finder windows." as well as all the DualFinder Workflow doesn't change the behaviour of "tab" button in the finder (which is : jumping between the 2 finder windows).

I guess that the problem may come more from the scripts (I ran them all one by one when before the problem appears) than from the Alfred Workflow (which I didn't use since today).

I wonder if they would be a way to delete this script (attached) that could be the source of my issue...

Best regards,
Joseph

Joseph,

There are 2 methods to install DualFinder:

  1. Applescript in Automator or Custom keyboard shortcuts
  2. keyboard shortcut remap app

From your description, I am guessing you are using #1

I think you need to figure out (by recalling) what you did to install DualFinder, and walkthrough the steps to remove the script in question.
