Nice piece of software. Thanks for taking the time to write this and sharing it with us.

We use OBS https://github.com/obsproject/obs-studio to play all media.
Of course, I have to download all JW media manually.
Originally I have a script to rename all files to mp4 so that vlc will play the pictures too, because I copy each file to a numbered folder.
From within OBS I can call VLC and play the folders per number. So a bit of manual labor, but quickly done.
Now I will use JWMMF :-)

The big big advantage why I use OBS is that it has a virtual camera. Our camera is linked to OBS and all media which is played via OBS is streamed to the virtual OBS camera. I then select the virtual OBS camera in Zoom and our brothers and sisters can see the speaker or the media that is played.

JWMMF can play on a second screen, and I guess br's use Zoom share to stream it to brothers and sisters at home.
Wouldn't it be nice if you can / may use the virtual cam function like OBS has.
And if you can implement camera capturing too then JWMMF would be a one tool for everything in the congregation.

INTERESTING POST! What is the view like for the ZOOM participants at home when you use the virtual camera? Do they find the virtual camera a bit laggy/glitchy? I find that when I use the virtual camera it looks like it is always trying to play catch-up with movements, especially quick movements such as hand gestures. Have you found similar at all or do the friends just get used to it... don't know anything different?

On your forked repo there's a sync fork button. And then locally, you run git pull

And if you're on a different branch than master, you run git merge origin/master (or origin/docs if you're editing the docs branch) to get the latest changes to that branch.

I think the OBS setup should be with the application setup instead of with the Meeting Setup?
Also, the background image is more of a media setup.
The enable button to present media on an external monitor is more a media setup.

The option to enable to play Kingdom songs on shuffle would fit better directly underneath the meeting time setup because they work together.

just some thoughts.

Wouldn’t a reload button in the config part be enough? Scenes in OBS don’t change that much. Mostly I keep the scenes names the same and just change the sources. Groeten, Richard

The question was if JWMMF will poll automatically if obs is live and what the scene names are. But it isn't really necessary. Scene names don't change that often. If this feature is necessary a manual reload button would be enough.

The idea he came up with was to put a refresh button, which would update the OBS scenes. It relates to what I said about Websockets' ability to update scenes in the media view.

Yeah, if this becomes a need I could add it eventually, but I suggest setting up scenes beforehand and then controlling them with JWMMF. I don't think the AV operator will be creating scenes on the fly at every meeting. Seems like overkill to me. 😆

I'm writing here because my idea looks related with this post. Would be good if JWMMF refresh the combo when the scenes are loaded or if the scene is changed in OBS.

Why it's desirable?

1. In OBS we can set shurtcuts to load a specifc scene, so if the operator uses the shortcut, the combo would be refreshed.

2. We could assign another brother to change the cameras scene by using a remote software like OBS Blade for Android or iOS, so if the scene is changed by the remote software, the combo woud be updated.

So, would be nice if once the scene is changed in the OBS, the JWMMF refreshs the combo with it.

I added scene change "listening" here. Basically, if the active scene changes in OBS Studio, that change will be reflected in JWMMF.

Manage the camera via utp network.

Ok - So I bought a SDI 20x ZOOM PTZ camera of the type suggested by the branch in this region. (Arrived). I want to get everything working before I attempt to install in the K-Hall. (Pending approval which is 1/2 way there... just waiting on our sister congregation).
I also bought a SDI to USB 3.1 Type-C adapter/converter for the image side of things, and a PoE switch to power the camera over ethernet and to 'control' it. (both appliances pending arrival / in transit). What I really need now is a tutorial on how all this works with OBS / M3.
I know how to create scenes / sources in OBS, and how these are shown as available to select in M3. But what I don't understand at this point is how OBS tells the PoE Switch what to then tell the camera what to do. Is there some kind of IP address thingee that I need to configure? How does one do this? (The documentation that came with the camera is v-e-r-y basic.)
The PTZ camera address is 192.168.1.123.
Soooo, as quoted above, how to do I "manage the camera via utp network"...?

Incidentally I have been asked by LDC in this country to assist other congregations in the area on demand, so want to get it right at home first before I go elsewhere.

Any help would be deeply appreciated.

Well. UTP is just the type cable. Normally we just call it network or Ethernet.
The cam has an IP number. Your pc has an ip number. They must be in the same network.
As example:
Cam: 192.168.1.10
Your pc: 192.168.1.100
If they're not on the same network you won't be able to connect to the cam.
When they are in the same network then just type in the ip number of the camera in the browser. Check the manual if you need to add a port number like http://192.168.1.10:5000 (example)

The switch doesn't do anything with the network addresses. It just passes on data packages. And in case of Poe it powers a device.

When you're not familiar with this, then find someone locally to help you with this.
It's not easy to learn someone remote via text about networking.
It can mean to know how to change the IP number of the PC, change dhcp settings in the router(sometimes modem), to scan the network for devices.

As start, you don't need the cam connected with SD to make connection with it. Set up the network connection first and later try to capture video image via SD cable on your pc.

To let OBS connect to your camera you can use the ptz-controls plugin. Once configured, you can add a ptz-controls action as a source to every scene (scene Speaker with ptz-action "go to preset 1" for example).

😎 A question. Why do you need to install the virtual cam plugin if it already comes with OBS? 🤔

I went with the portable version of OBS Studio, I think that's why by default it wasn't installed/enabled for me; some users indicate that the plugin works a bit better for them than the integrated version. 🤷

Oh yes, I understand. Today at the meeting with the CO, I will use the integration. But for me it's great! It's very simple! 😀😎
