When editing a huge document, it is very helpful if one can edit the same document with two views. Windows -> split would be menu action.

I'm a little confused on how this would be suposed to work. Would it just be another PDF preview panel, where you could select another page?

I meant the tex source. Here as screenshot of Emacs with AUCTeX:

The same tex file is shown in the two windows. If I insert something in the upper window, it is immediately shown in the lower window, too and vice versa.

(The demonstration file is from latextemplates)
