The use case I had in mind is hacking images with additional data pre-cached on them. There might be others.

Other possibilities:

  • minio would be nice for local file staging and serving, if they merge the PR that is blocking it
  • container annotations for data staging
  • if allowing users to override default images is considered a support risk, possibly a "developer" fork of the console that has these fields, or require auth to fill them?
