Description

The current new versions of QGIS are usually advertised on the Web site when the MS Windows and GNU\Linux builds are ready to be downloaded.

Anyway, the latest QGIS installers for Apple macOS available for download are almost always not the new versions but the previous versions.

Currently, the QGIS versions available for Windows and Linux (and advertised on the Web site as the latest available) are 3.16.9 and 3.20.1, while for macOS the latest available versions are actually 3.16.8 and 3.20.0.

So a macOS user is not able to know which is the latest version available for his system

Moreover, QGIS Desktop informs all the users (including the macOS users) about the new 3.20.1 or 3.16.9 version available, while these versions are not actually available for macOS users.

Displaying the actual available version for macOS (and possibly for Windows and Linux too) in the download page of the Web site would avoid useless download of the installers.

From what I see in the website, Windows neither advertises the complete version the user will install. Would be coherent to keep the same level of details for all platforms (either 3.x or 3.x.y -- the latter would be more helpful indeed).
But I'd like to requestion the issue differently: what does the project need to do so that the macos packaging is ready (as quickly as possible) for release announcement?

@PeterPetrik thank you very much.
Anyway, it could be useful to have a way to display on the QGIS Website the actual macOS QGIS version available to download, so the users avoid to uselessly download a not updated macOS QGIS version until the new version is actually available.

@PeterPetrik Any idea what QGIS project can do to make the macOS packages available earlier?

would be good to have more people onboard as packager.. and myself being more quick and watch broken packager more closely.
