The file structure of the torrent is "set in stone" (i.e. the "original" layout) in the .torrent file so qBt has to know about any deviations from it and re-apply them on every startup. |

The
TorrentInfo::setContentLayout
function, which actually applies the content layout (i.e, creates or deletes root folder), is only called when the torrent metadata is first loaded, i.e., when the torrent is first added. Changing the content layout later is not possible through the GUI and is not implemented internally either. So why does qBit go to the trouble of saving the content layout in the resume file, under keyqBt-contentLayout
