Handling 301 redirects?

As the latest versions of openid-client don't support adding the followRedirects option to the requests anymore and my ID server uses a 301 to redirect to the auth URL from the needed .well-known/openid-configuration I was wondering how these cases should be handled?

Note that I do realize that this question has been asked about 302 redirects but 301 is a different thing and the library doesn't seem to provide a way to supply the real URL outside of the well-known path.
