Performance issues using Figma UI Kit? #3480

Hello, We've recently noticed some slowdowns in almost every file we work with. Interestingly, several tweets discussing Figma performance issues have been trending lately, particularly from users Oğuz and T. Costa. According to Figma's responses, they are currently investigating these concerns. The Figma UI Kit uses 15% memory during the initial load. It is a percentage that shouldn't cause you any performance issues. Nevertheless, we have experienced minor problems working with components with 500+ variants, like the button component. From what we've been following on Twitter, Figma suggests closing and reopening the tab and application. One of the community-suggested solutions is to work using Firefox. |

Hi all, just wondering if anyone else is running into performance issues when using the UI kit as a library for their Figma design files. I'm currently working on a proof of concept where I've taken the PrimeOne file 3.0.1, replaced the variable/token values with my own, and have been using the updated file as a library.
I've noticed within the library file, there is often a lag when editing or moving things around. I'm assuming this has something to do with all the variables that have to be carried around in the Figma file and populated within dropdowns, color pickers, etc. I'm using the latest Figma desktop app, and now that I've updated the token values, I'm not using any plugins or anything - just Figma variables.
Curious if anyone else has encountered this in the PrimeOne file itself, or when used as a library in other Figma files. If so, are there any workarounds or performance enhancements to consider? Our team's design files get fairly complex and we're often pushing the memory usage up to 50-60% utilization in any given design file, so I'm wondering if we replace our current design system library (which is pretty lean to being with) with the PrimeOne UI kit (which has thousands of variables) if we're likely to run into more performance issues.
