NPE in class TabViewRenderer

In TabViewRenderer.encodeEnd I get a NullpointerException:

I have no idea why the client ID is empty. But it seems to be related to the fact that I don't click directly on the label in the tab, but on the tab next to it.

Is there a way I can avoid or catch this NullpointerException?

update: the ajax:listener fires on tabChange event with null as tab:

This reminds me that we have had a situation for some time now where in a tab of the tab view you have to click exactly on the label in order for the tab to be selected. A click next to the label causes the mouse pointer to become a mouse hand, the layout changes, but the click does not lead to a change of tab.

i can't reproduce your issue. Can you create a PF Test reproducer: PrimeFaces Test ???

It doesn't seem to be a bug in PrimeFaces. Our theme is probably defective.

Is there a way to check the ID of the tab for empty or null before the request is sent and an NPE is generated in the backend?

i still don't understand why an NULL tab is sent? I can't reproduce your issue so its hard for me to suggest what you should do?
