Communcal code functionality / ad-hoc code collaboration

If we have a completely self-contained device that you can use to write and test code on, it'd be great if multiple people that were simply close together could hack on a project together.

This idea is currently a little half-baked but I can see the following:

• You start a new coding project in $ProgrammingEnvironment and you set it to public
• Some other friendly hacker walks by and sees the local project
• They can join the project, get a copy of the code, and we do some kind of etherpad-style (or git, I guess) style collaboration mode

We can extend this further by perhaps allowing one device to be a debugger for the other so groups of hackers can directly collaborate on the same problem as well.

I can flesh out ideas for protocols and discovery if this seems like a cool idea.
