Some sort of multitasking homescreen/dashboard/desktop widgets

I really like the idea of widgets that show the next talk or the weather or air quality or what have you, but my understanding is this kinda failed at sha17 because any app could basically take over the entire screen and it got tiring very fast?

On the last badge there was an air quality sensor but it was basically unusable because it took so long to calibrate and doing anything else required restarting the badge.
