Let's have a badge that you can actually read somebody's name from!

Awesome idea! We should always keep our origins in mind.

At the same time my hope is that we can move away from building a badge and expand our creativity into creating something cool, useful and creative without holding ourselves back by this constraint.

One possible solution would be to use the cheap electronic shelf labels we can get (https://github.com/orgs/badgeteam/discussions/9) for displaying ones name. These displays could be controlled by the "badge" so that the badge itself doesn't need to be around your neck 😄

Agree, for an actual badge lightweight and daylight readable are kinda important. Otherwise it's just a sparking devboard.
