If we were only talking about specimens, "specimen collection process" in OBI would suffice, but I'm not sure that would work for our colleagues in the humanities who are collecting art for museums. Maybe it would?
We also need to think about collecting physical objects and collecting data. Maybe these should be two different processes?
The parent should be OBI planned process.
The definition would be "a planned process in which a research object (continuant? this is the lowest parent of specimen and datum) is collected for research or scholarly purposes"
