Collecting prices in supermarkets: legal or not ?

Funny story that happened while collecting proofs for open prices

I was in a supermarket earlier today and while taking pictures of price tags for OP a security guard came up to me and asked why I was taking pictures like this. I was a little taken aback so I said it was for my personal use he then said you're not allowed to, if you want to do it you have to ask and obtain permission from the management, I asked if he could show what that policy was based on, I demanded that he show at least a piece of paper to back what he was saying, he said he was gonna see with management and he left.

I went on with my shopping/snapping session and after checking out at the till I went to see him at the entrance to ask what was the verdict. He explained that it came from his colleague manning the video cameras and that 2 weeks prior a guy was in the supermarket snapping pictures here and there, said it was a different case and I had the right to do it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
