-The extension runs on the windows(or any os we are using it on) throught the docker extension
- The extensions uses the management hub to issues commands using an arch iso
(terminal commands)
Arch iso is like a base arch linux (just terminal)
-we need to find a way to connect this arch iso to the ubuntu terminal to run the commands on the terminal
Option- SSH connection
It connects two devices (usually a clint and a server)
Lets the server run shell commands on the terminal
Its is installed in the default ubuntu os
Hopefully also installed within the arch os
Requirements to connects
It makes a private key and public key pairs
You uses both keys to authenticate your self to confirm the connect to the server(or machine)
How to do it on ubuntu
First make the directory
mkdir -p ~/.ssh
chmod 700 ~/.ssh
Then generate the key pairs
$ cd ~/.ssh
$ ssh-keygen
Enter file in which to save the key ($HOME/.ssh/id_rsa): id_ubuntucore
You can also pass in the flag to make a longer key for more security but its not needed
-b 4096
Now you can compy the keys made at
cat ~/.ssh/id_<yourkey>.pub
upload them to ubuntu server
https://login.ubuntu.com/ssh-keys
Now we can finally connect to the machine remotely
You can use your ubuntu account username and ip address
ssh <username>@<device-ip-address>
Or you can use the id keys using this command
$ ssh -i ~/.ssh/id_ubuntucore [email protected]
Now for the docker extension
First we run docker install -init
This makes a docker extension default starter folder(a basic exnstion layout)
We can make the extension using
Docker make -t (name on docker)/ (location)
Docker Install
To update we use after debugging(if not in live debug mode)
Docker make-update
We can Start a development server so that everytime we make an edit to the code on the server the extension updates automatically and we can see the changes live
First we start the host server(default at port 3000)
npm start
We can then link the current made extension to the server so it can take the changes from there
docker extension dev ui-source (location of extension on pc) “http://localhost:300”(server)
We could also turn on the debug mode which would give us more information everytime we run the code

We could go here and choose the look for the ui we want(like a box of text, or a bottom, or even a title screen) or the materials we want then it would give us the code for it pre writer with all the variables we could change labeled(like width height size and stuff) Very Useful!!
