Switching from other themes doesn't properly update highlight line #1

I have the problem that if I switch to another theme, then switch back to the railscasts theme, the highlighted line is not properly updated. I have a similar problem in other themes with the fringe so I'm not sure what gets screwed up.

The theme I'm switching to is solarized-light or dark. But I think that any theme will do this.

It looks like the background for highlight line is getting updated, but is not actually changing the highlight.. not sure why this is happening.
