Ideal way to set up metrics

I read the documentation of both Nats-Surveyor & also Nats-Prom-Exporter . Ive set up both & tested it, but i wanted to understand if its ideal to set up both surveyor & exportor or any one can do both, as i understand the surveyor scrapes statz endpoint, where as prom-exporter is scraping few more endpoints.

Also I observe that We have Slow consumers as one of the dashboards NATS-Server provides, but slow-consumers is a number which says we have 10 consumers maybe at specific time-stamp. Am i right to say I need to look at Pending messages to get the actual messages stuck in queue?
