More feedback when starting scanning

Description

My experience when I first installed Tower Collector:
Click "Scan". It immediately starts showing scan results. Cool.

My experience when I first installed NeoStumbler:
Click " Scan". Nothing happens, no results. Hm??

Suggested implementation

There should be some feedback to the user. E.g. “waiting for location” or “please move around”. Tower Collector even displays the current accuracy in meter.

Following up on this:

There is a delay of 10 seconds before reports are created (possibly more if we have to wait for a GPS fix), but you don't need to move around.

What’s the reason behind the 10 seconds? Why wait when the phone already has a GPS fix?

In particular I observe the following:

1. Open GPSTest, wait, and make sure I have a fix
2. Switch to NeoStumbler
3. Start scanning
4. Nothing happens for 10-12 seconds.

Is there a reason for that? Because to the user, it just looks like the app is slow and nothing is happening. With 3 to 5 seconds it would be more “acceptable”. But 10 seconds is a looong time for an initial delay.
