Including the Ruff formatter in suggested formatter extensions #22333
-
Hi! Disclaimer, I work for Astral, the company that builds Ruff. We recently announced the Beta version of the Ruff formatter. We expect a Stable release before long, but we're confident the current version is production-ready and shipped support in our VSCode extension about a month ago. I encountered the following pop-up when attempting to format a Python file and am wondering if it would be reasonable to add Ruff to the list now or in the future? Separately, this message was appearing even when I had the Ruff formatter extension enabled and set as my default formatter. I had to use the "Don't show again" prompt. Thanks! |

That whole prompt is actually going away in the next stable release because we are dropping our built-in formatting support, so I don't think there's anything to action here. And this should have only triggered if you set the Python extension as your formatter, so removing that setting should make the trigger go away. |
