Failed to install pappl on macOS Sonoma

I encountered an error due to libcups-dev. Any help would be appreciated. Here is the log:

What will become PAPPL 2.0 (master branch) requires libcups3, which is not a standard part of macOS. Use the v.1.4.x branch (or one of the releases) to build against the stock libcups provided with macOS.
