I have added color name support to some version of farbtastic on my webserver. If you would like this to be an official feature, I can get the latest source and submit a pull request. What it does is allow the user to type in a color name, like Firebrick, and it will set the picker to the correct color, showing the name instead of the hex code. Also, if you happen to find a named color, it will show the color name instead of the hex code. While it's nice to allow the user to select any color they want, I would expect them to want to choose a named color most of the time, so would like to make that easy for them.
