I am running the latest beta/release version of MineColonies for my Minecraft version.
I am also running the latest versions of other mods that are part of my problem.
Did you check on the Wiki? or ask on Discord?
I checked the MineColonies Wiki and made sure my issue is not covered there. Or I was sent from discord to open an issue here.
What were you playing at the time? Were you able to reproduce it in both settings?

Current Behavior
Using a hoe on grass produces massive amounts of full-grown crops for use with colonies... except you don't need to use colonies to eat these foods and turn them into meals!
It is too easy and impacts non-colony gameplay allowing such easy harvesting of various usable food items.
Expected Behavior
I'm not sure what the preferred way would be to address this would be... some ideas:
Don't allow players to eat MineColonies crops or make meals from them
Make it so colonists are the ones that must gather the crops
Provide seeds for the crops that are gathered with a hoe
Any one of those would help, or some alternative solution perhaps!

With prominent mods like Farmer's Delight I have to wonder if MineColonies should even be adding its own crops and meals?

Colonist food being hard to manage may be worth addressing in its own issue, the focus here is on the negative impact these crops have on the core gameplay.
