Question about Home tracker legality #4124
-
Hi, I just wanted to ask about possible legality issues regarding pokemon that are transferred directly from save to save (Across generations on PKHeX, without Home tracker IDs. Obviously Home tracker IDs are created when the pokemon goes through Home, but is there a legality concern when it comes to say a pokemon from 4th gen or even 8th gen coming into the 9th gen saves without any Home tracker ID? Is that possible to have no Home tracker ID transferring those Pokémon legit, or would it be a red flag that PKHeX was used? |

Not possible without cheating. PKHeX has a setting that is default to "Fishy" for missing HOME Trackers when a Pokémon should have one. You can change it so it is truly strict instead of lenient for local play. |

It is impossible for the program to let you know if any Pokémon is "legit" (aka obtained in-game with no edits). It can only check if your Pokémon is legal (aka has possible traits).
That said, it is default because if you are using it to edit data for personal use, the preference is not to flag them because it won't matter. If you care about legality, you can opt in rather than force every user by default to care about a legality check that doesn't affect local, personal use.
