Sadly, this project looks abandoned.
Can you please consider granting maintainer permissions to someone who is interested in this project?

While I have the ability as a collaborator to merge PRs (which I haven't actually done), I do not have the ability to make releases to PyPI or add other collaborators. If I were given permission to make releases, I'd be willing to merge and release, although this would still not be a high-priority repository for me. But I'd hopefully be able to find a little time in the near future to address some current issues.

I do not rely on this project anymore. I've moved entirely to Python 3, but before I did I wrote, and continue to maintain, backports.csv. This isn't necessarily an easy transition from this library, but it's also an option to consider for those following this issue. And, since I wrote it, I obviously like the approach better of a backport of Python 3's unicode-aware csv module.
