Something like:

  • booby-trapped directories
  • "enemy" binaries or network connections
  • losing resources or files for other reasons
  • "viruses"

One interaction I can picture with "traps" is the player inadvertently triggering a binary which steals back an item from them (maybe essentially like magnet) --- but which teaches them that they can run some other binary which cancels the ongoing execution of the "trap".

Something like "cursed" items in the roguelike tradition, which, once you pick them up, are difficult to put down.
